APF PRO TEAM RIDERS DOMINATE AT THE NAJYRC!

This year's North American Junior Young Rider Championships were dominated by APF Pro Team Riders! We are so delighted and proud to be associated with such incredible young people - truly the future of equestrian sport.

In the CIC2*, Shelby Brost won the gold on her brilliant mare, Crimson. I was fortunate to be able to meet Shelby at Rolex this past April, and was impressed with her poise and confidence. Doesn't surprise me in the least that she so competently tackled the challenge of the championships with a win on her dressage score. Shelby and Crimson were also instrumental in securing a silver medal for the Canadian team.

Lee Camiolo and Junior sailed
around a tough course.

Competing as an individual in the CCI1* was Lee Camiolo on Caharron V.E. (aka Junior). Lee is an extremely talented young rider - who Michael and I were privileged to meet at this year's Rolex as well - and at the tender age of 16, can be expected to return to the championships many more times! After a solid dressage, she rocketed to 2nd on the strength of a double clear cross country ride. Stadium proved challenging, and rails set her back, but we are extremely proud of her performance and expect to see her at the top of the sport in the years to come.


As a California based company, AREA VI are hometown kids! We know and cheer for all these incredible kids throughout the year at competitions up and down the state. With a perfect run in stadium, all of them putting in double clear rounds, they captured the bronze medal for their team!

Two of our sponsored riders for 2014/2015 - Matt Brown and Tami Smith - have been awarded USEF Land Rover Competition Grants for Jersey Fresh International Three-Day Event in Allentown, New Jersey, on May 6-10 and the Equi-Trek Bramham International Horse Trials CCI3* in West Yorkshire, England, on June 11-14.

Tamra Smith of Next Level Eventing Joins the APF Pro Team!

Tamra Smith of Next Level Eventing has just recently joined the APF Pro Team and we couldn't be happier. She is an extremely talented rider, trainer, and top notch person and we are so excited to be associated with her and her wonderful horses!

As some of you may know, Tamie just went through an extremely difficult medical crises with one of her favorite horses, Dempsey. Things did not look good, and at the USEA convention Dougie Hannum recommended that she start Dempsey on APF Pro immediately.

Here is what she reported to us:

Dempsey continues to make progress each week. He is back to his normal silly self. Thank you APF for helping him get his immune system back in top shape. When he couldn't have any meds due to his condition APF was the only thing we could give him to build his immune system. I won't go without my APF ever again!!!

Tamie was kind enough to give us updates as Dempsey got better and better:

So excited to be a part of such an amazing product! It really saved Dempsey when he couldn't have any kind of medications. We started him on the APF and his temperature instantly dropped!  I always thought APF was a good product but I truly know and believe in this product 100%! It saved my horse's life and I wouldn't have a competition horse without them on APF!!

Of course we couldn't be happier for Dempsey's return to health! That's what it's all about, after all.

Clayton Fredericks Joins Our Team!

All of you in the eventing world know Clayton Fredericks, who has enjoyed an amazing career, earning an Olympic team silver medal in the 2008 Olympic Games and riding as a member of the Australian team at the 2012 London Olympic Games. He won an individual silver and team bronze medal at the 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games and won the 2007 Rolex Kentucky CCI4* event as well as being the FEI World Cup Champion in 2005 and 2008.

Now Clayton is coaching the Canadian Olympic team AND developing a major equestrian facility at his new location in Florida. 

As busy as he is, Clayton recently took a moment and wrote to us about his experience with APF Pro.

Just wanted to touch base regarding the APF Pro. 

 

We have been trialling the product on one of my young horses who has had problems maintaining condition and also been difficult to handle and ride. I'm not sure whether the APF Pro has addressed ulcers that have never been diagnosed or is working in some other way but the difference in this horse when he is on the APF Pro has been remarkable. Both his condition and temperament have improved and he has been consistently winning in Eventing.

Matt Brown Takes 3rd at the American Eventing Championships

The advanced division of the American Eventing Championships turned out to be a slugfest between the top five horses, with scores so tightly bunched that a single rail each in stadium decided the day for the three of the top four finishers.

WHAT A DIFFERENCE A RAIL MAKES

Matt Brown on his super steady Super Socks BCF was in excellent position going into stadium, sitting behind the leader, Laine Ashker, by only 7/10ths of a point. But stadium proved a challenge for virtually all the top competitors, with each horse and rider combination dropping a single rail in their round except for Buck Davidson and his mare, Petite Flower. The pair's faultless round moved them up from 4th to 1st.

Matthew Brown Joins APF Pro Team...and also CLEANS UP AT REBECCA FARM!

Matt Brown's stunning performance last weekend at the Event At Rebecca Farm is certainly the more noteworthy news, but we at Auburn Labs are tickled to death that he has agreed to join our team of riders in endorsing APF Pro. Going out and winning both the CIC*** and the CCI** on Super Socks BCF and Happenstance (respectively) just proves this young man knows what he's doing.

And -- in part -- what he's doing is feeding APF Pro.

Code Name, ridden by Sara Mittleider, named YEH National Champion.

Recently the stunning five year old Holsteiner, Code Name, was awarded top honors in the Young Event Horse West Coast Championships at Galway Downs in Temecula, CA. Sara Mittleider put in a confident ride on the young horse, leading from start to finish and capturing the title in impressive form.

Temecula, Calif. - The USEA Young Event Horse West Coast Championships crowned their 4- and 5-year-old winners at Galway Downs International Three-Day Event. In the 5-Year-Old class, Sara Mittleider and her own Code Name led from start to finish, while in the 4-Year-Old class, Jennifer McFall and Dragonfire Farm’s Classic Twain jumped up to take the victory.

Mittleider was competing for more than just West Coast glory, as the 5-year-old with the highest score between the West Coast and East Coast

Championships also wins the $17,500 USEA/Holekamp grant to contest the FEI Young Horse Championship for 7-Year-Olds at the Le Lion D’Angers CCI** in France. The East Coast Championships took place two weeks ago in Maryland, and Buck Davidson and Mr. Bojangles were victorious there with a score of 82.53. But Mittleider garnered a score of 83.0 from the same judges, giving her both the win here and the grant for 2015.

Brenda Mittleider, Sara's mother, was gracious enough to take the time to write us on Facebook about Sara's win.

Hello! I just wanted you to know that Sara Mittleider and her horse, Code Name, won the West Coast Young Event Horse Championship for 5 year olds at Galway Downs. They had the highest score between the East Coast and West Coast Champions so Code Name is National Champion 5 yr old Event Horse. He is eligible to receive the Holekamp-Turner Grant to help with expenses to compete at the World Championships for young horses to be held in France in 2015.

I hope that Auburn Labs will be along on this new adventure with us!

He has been on APF Pro since he was started jumping in January and he is certainly healthy and happy!

Matthew Brown and BCF Belicoso took first in the CIC2* Division at the Woodside International show this weekend in a superb performance that had them leading from the first day. But the really BIG part of this story is that their picture made Eventing Nation - jumping our new stadium fence!

OUR NEW STADIUM FENCE DEBUTS AT WOODSIDE THIS WEEKEND!

We are so excited about this new fence that the fabulous guys at Sunsprite Warmbloods made for us we can hardly stand it! They "jumped" on the project (pun intended!) and got it finished in record time. Sooo...no time faults! (I know...I know...I couldn't help it.)

I would like to smash a champagne bottle on it except that it might hurt the gorgeous paint, or splash it and make it dirty...and of course, while a theatrical gesture, it is always an unfortunate WASTE of champagne, which is a sin, so I'll just toast to it instead.

But isn't it beautiful??

KELLY PRATHER TAKES FIRST, SECOND, AND THIRD!

Kelly Prather took three of her talented young horses to the Horse Park of New Jersey this past weekend and came home with a different color ribbon for each one. In the Open Preliminary A
Division, Kelly took first and third aboard Blackfoot Mystery and Flagmount's Nightcap, respectively. In the Open Preliminary B Division, she took second with True Wiley.

KRISTI NUNNINK WINS REBECCA FARM CIC***

Kristi is congratulated by another competitor on her win.

Hometown girl Kristi Nunnink and her lovely mare R-Star traveled to Montana to take first place in the CIC*** Division this weekend at The Event at Rebecca Farm.

TIANA COUDRAY HIGHEST PLACED U.S. RIDER AT AACHEN

Proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that she and her horse, Ringwood Magister, deserve to be considered one of the finest horse and rider combinations in the world, Tiana Coudray put in a decisive cross country round to place 10th at the Aachen CICO3* at the 2013 CHIO Aachen. The diverse and challenging course proved difficult for many, but Tiana and "Finn" made it look easy.

Coudray (Ojai, CA) and Ringwood Magister had a stellar round over Rüdiger Schwarz's cross country course with 35 jumping efforts. The pair made light work of the extensive, challenging course. Adding 14.8 time penalties to their dressage score, she and Jatial Inc.'s 12-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding finished in tenth place with a score of 57.8.

"I am over the moon," exclaimed Coudray. "He was absolutely playing with the course today. It obviously caused so much trouble. It was very, very tough. Very experienced riders had trouble. I went later in the day and I had not seen a clear round all morning, but he gave me such a good feel out there on the challenging course."

Congratulations, Tiana! You did an amazing job and we are all so very proud of you.

SARA AND HARRY TAKE OPEN INTERMEDIATE AT GALWAY DOWNS

Sara Mittleider and her 8 year old Trakehner, Harry Houdini took the blue ribbon in the Open Intermediate Division at Galway Downs this past weekend.

With their dressage score of 31.2, the pair spent the weekend chasing Hawley Bennett Awad and Five O'Clock Somewhere, who sat in first place with a dressage score of 28.8. But the stadium round proved decisive. Sara and Harry put in a faultless round, only to watch Hawley and Five O'Clock Somewhere pick up an unfortunate 8 faults. The 8 faults moved them to second with a final score of 36.8. Sara and Harry took the first place spot with a final score of 31.2.

TIANA COUDRAY AND RINGWOOD MAGISTER HIGHEST PLACED U.S. RIDERS AT BADMINTON

Representing the United States, Tiana Coudray and Ringwood Magister put in a brilliant dressage test, a nearly foot-perfect cross country course with only 2 time faults, but had a little difficulty in stadium, dropping two rails. With a field as tightly packed among the top horses and riders as this year's Badminton, two rails were enough to drop her from 10th after cross country to 17th but still left her as the leading U.S. rider.

You could not ask for a more beautiful Badminton from this gorgeous pair. Dressage was polished and impressive, while Tiana's cross country on "Finn" was as near perfect as you will ever see.

Eventing Nation did a superb job covering the event.  Big kudos to their amazing team of writers and photographers. We are very lucky to have such a great blog chronicling our sport.

ROLEX!

Rolex Kentucky Three-Day 2013 is wrapping up today with stadium jumping, beginning at 1:15 p.m. Eastern. Twenty-nine horses out of the starting 46 will continue on to this final phase for a chance to win the most prestigious Three-Day in the United States.

The day began for the competitors this morning at 8:30 a.m. with the Final Horse Inspection.  Thirty horses were presented to the ground jury, with only one horse being spun, James Allison's Tivoli. The rest of the field, which completed yesterday's test of cross country, passed. The leaderboard can be found at the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day website.

In the remaining horses and riders who will face today's jumping test there is some serious girl power with our west coast riders, Kristi Nunnink on the lovely gray mare, R-Star, and Hawley Bennett-Awad aboard her Ferrari of a mare, Gin & Juice, standing 9th and 10th respectively. Four gorgeous ladies show the boys how it's done!
